"In February 2016, I was in between jobs and urgently seeking something I could do from home or remotely from my little town of 3,500 people. After hundreds of google searches, help wanted ads and inquiries with friends in town, I ran across an ad for Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG) and their openings for Local Coordinators throughout the United States. What a blessing in disguise! I thought God had forgotten about helping me find a job, but He was just really waiting until the perfect time to reveal it.
From the first day FLAG hired me, I was met with professional and excited upper level staff who took the time to get to know me, support me and encourage me! During my first year with FLAG, I found homes for five FLAG international students. None of the families who hosted through me were families that I even knew when I set out on this journey. I connected with each family through word of mouth and my own personal networking efforts. Now I have five families who I know that I didn’t know this time last year.
Two of the most inspiring parts of my job as a Local Coordinator and now Chapter Manager are the FLAG central office staff and our FLAG international students. FLAG central office staff is upbeat, encouraging and mission driven. If you are looking for a non-profit to work for that is mission driven and makes a difference, this is it! And our FLAG central office staff understands this and makes it known from the top down. From day one, I felt like part of a family and valued for my work on behalf of our students. As for our FLAG students, well let’s just say we work with the best students in the WORLD! Our students have clear guidelines within their programs that help them get the most out of their experience and a clear maturity is seen throughout the progression of their program.
For those of you who are looking for meaningful work in a positive environment, FLAG has it all, bundled into one program that reaches around the world. Just do it! You will be happy that you did."
