Information for Parents (Natural)

FLAG Natural Parents

FLAG's goal is to make each student’s exchange a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Among other things, students will learn to be independent from natural parents while creating new relationships with American host parents and siblings. Students learn a new language, experience a new culture and so much more. While all of this sounds exciting, FLAG understands that as a parent it can also seem very frightening. Everyone on the FLAG team wants parents rest assured in knowing that FLAG has been meeting and exceeding parent's and student's expectations for the past 25 years!

We hope that you encourage your son or daughter to explore another country through student exchange and have the experience of a lifetime!

Reliability and Reputation

FLAG combines the experience, reliability and reputation of a nationally recognized and fully accredited educational organization with the "personal touch" and individual care of a small agency to offer all of its program participants the best of both worlds in the field of International Educational Travel.

Accreditation

In its early years, FLAG achieved full accreditation status with the two main regulatory agencies in the U.S. exchange student industry: Designation as an official sponsor of Exchange Visitor Programs by the United States Department of State and acceptance for full listing in the Advisory List published by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (C.S.I.E.T.).

FLAG has earned and maintains an impeccable reputation and track record with both agencies. In 2002, after serving in a number of CSIET's Evaluation and Accreditation Committees and chairing CSIET's Accreditation Committee for 2 consecutive years, Founder Mazi Cunha was nominated and elected as a member of the CSIET Board of Directors for 2 consecutive 3-year terms.

Safety and Support

FLAG has full emergency procedures in place, should an actual emergency arise. In addition, FLAG has an extensive network of experienced staff and local coordinators who provide support in each state, county, and country.

Medical Coverage

Students receive a specialized accident and illness medical insurance policy. This policy provides medical coverage to ensure that, in an emergency situation or with a general illness, they will be treated as soon as possible, anywhere in the US.
